In Consecutive Interpretation (CI), the interpreter converts the words into the target language after the speaker delivers one or two sentences. The speaker pauses and waits for the interpreter to convey the message before continuing with their speech. Successful consecutive interpretation requires several different skills besides language proficiency, namely, active listening, quick analysis and note taking, as well as accurate reproduction of the message into the target language.
All of CTM Connect’s interpreters have extensive experience with consecutive interpretation for various industries and situations. We can cater to your specific needs and help make communication between you and your audience effective and fruitful. We give quotations for hourly and daily rates, as well as offer special packages for projects that take place over the course of several weeks or months.
CI is ideal for small gatherings or one-on-one meetings where the conversation allows for pauses to interpret, for example, preliminary business meetings, trade shows, field-work activities, factory visits, technical training in some cases, legal discussions, and medical interpreting for doctors and patients. Because of the start-and-stop nature of the delivery of a speech or presentation, the meeting or event can last longer.
